Child dies after being sandwiched between vehicles

Connecticut residents often have to make instantaneous decisions and respond with lightning speed to situtions on the road when driving. Even when successfully able to respond appropriately so as to proactively stay out of the way of an accident, drivers are not always able to avoid being hit. This is because other drivers may not appropriately respond to the need for a change of course or speed.

This is the type of situation that claimed the life of a young boy in Westport, Connecticut recently. The child was from Kittery, Maine and was nine years old. He was riding in the rear seat of a vehicle and was using safety restraints in the vehicle as he should. The vehicle he was in was driving along a stretch of Interstate 95. The driver was forced to stop abruptly in response to a similar fast halting by another car.

Tragically, the driver of the vehicle coming up behind the car with the boy inside did not stop soon enough. Instead, that vehicle plowed into the car carrying the boy and pushed it into the vehicle in front of it. The child and other one person were taken to a hospital for treatment. The other person is said to have experienced minor injuries. The boy died the following day and is said to have experienced serious  head trauma in the crash.

Even if criminal charges result from situations like this, such as with an impaired driving offense, Connecticut residents may find it helpful to talk with an attorney about how to seek personal and civil compensation for losses.
